Public hearing into Suffolk Coastal housing allocations

THE latest, crucial milestone in the delivery of important planning documents for Suffolk Coastal district will be reached in August when the Planning Inspectorate stages public hearing sessions.

Suffolk Coastal district council has submitted two site allocations documents for independent examination and the Planning Inspectorate has confirmed that the public hearing sessions will start at 1pm on Tuesday 30th August 2016 in the Council Chamber at Melton Hill, Woodbridge.

The hearing sessions will consider the following:

  • Site Allocations and Area Specific Policies Development Plan Document
  • Felixstowe Peninsula Area Action Plan Development Plan Document

The Planning Inspectorate have appointed Elizabeth Hill BSc (HONS) BPHIL MRTPI to conduct the Examination to determine whether the two documents are sound.  If found sound the documents will guide the future development and growth across the district up to 2027.

Cllr Tony Fryatt, Cabinet Member for Planning at Suffolk Coastal said:

“This a very important stage of a detailed and important process. The public, along with a wide range of stakeholders, service providers and interested parties, have been involved throughout the formulation of these documents and we are very pleased that the Planning Inspectorate has confirmed the dates for the hearing sessions.

"Once adopted, these documents will ensure that the future development of the district to the year 2027 follows clear plans that meet the approval of the Planning Inspectorate and, most importantly meet the needs of our local communities.”

To support the Examination, the Council have appointed Annette Feeney to act as Programme Officer throughout the Examination process.  She can be contacted via email on programmeofficer@eastsuffolk.gov.uk.
