The Prime Minister Visits Felixstowe to set out Plans for more Jobs & Investment

The Prime Minister made a speech to business leaders at Felixstowe Port today setting out the long term economic plan for the East of England.

Our area has seen the fastest growth in employment outside London since the last election and today the Prime Minister set out ambitious plans to go even further.

Therese said: "It was great to welcome the Prime Minister to Felixstowe today to show him the success of our Port and the strength of our growing economy. I was delighted to hear him set out plans secure an even brighter future for hard-working people across Suffolk, including plans to create 250,000 new jobs by 2020 and deliver £4.2 billion of investment into transport infrastructure."

The Prime Minister said: "Our long-term economic plan is working in the East of England with 80,000 more businesses and the fastest growth in employment in England outside London. Nearly 200,000 more people have the financial security that a job and regular pay-packet bring since 2010. I am determined to go further and we will keep working through our plan to secure a brighter future for hardworking people across the East of England by making the most of the strengths in science, defence and energy, ensuring we have world-class infrastructure and backing business to create more jobs."
