The results of the East Suffolk Council elections held on 4 May 2023 are deeply disappointing for the Association and especially for the hard working Conservative councillors who either lost their seats or were not elected in wards which have traditionally returned a Conservative councillor. Clearly events which had played out many miles from East Suffolk had a substantial impact on local sentiment.
On behalf of the members of the Association I want to thank all candidates for standing, congratulate those elected and commiserate with those former councillors who were not re-elected and especially Ray Herring who had served on the district council for no less than 36 years.
We will fight back.
